Party Smith’s background reflects the vibrant eclecticism found in record shops, a path ignited in 1998, when she worked in three Lisbon record shops until the early 00s. Selling music to the Portuguese DJ community, she naturally became one herself.
Starting out in chillout rooms, the interdisciplinary artist soon adapted her beats to keep pace with Lisbon’s vibrant late 90s techno scene. Shortly after, in 2003, she began a decade-long stint in London, spinning records and organising events in some of the city’s darkest corners. Whether a tripped-out pool party in Sri Lanka to a dark basement in Lisbon, Party Smith keeps the father of the bride, the tecknival freak and the jazz trumpeter alike content in the dance.
