In anticipation of our M.C.Escher Birthday Rave in Torquay tomorrow night, one of the DJs playing, Stoogie Houzer, has put together this energetic promo mix.
Things load up to full-tempo dance floor shenanigans pretty quickly, before giving way to a more sparse, bass-heavy selection. If there’s one thing providing a constant throughout the drifting tempos and genres, it’s the playful, shuffling rhythms that drive things along.

As a veteran of the London bboy scene and longtime DJ of 90s house, classic boogie and some seriously fruity disco, Stoogie Houzer relocated from London to Devon back in 2014, in pursuit of increased rainfall and musical enlightenment.
Once ensconced in the wet, rolling hills of the South Hams, Stoogie hooked-up with local party legends Bizarre Rituals. He traded in his dance shoes for some studio monitors, as he began collaborating on music production with fellow BR crew member Brain Rays. In the past 3 years the pair have pushed into deeper and weirder musical territory, rolling out a string of acclaimed releases together under the collaborative moniker ‘The Fug’. These intricate and highly unusual productions, which are always delivered with a strong visual narrative, have caught the eyes (and ears) of some heavyweight industry figures. Gaining support from the likes of Neil Landstrumm, Otto von Schirach, Lenkemz, Fraxinus, Medallion Man and The Wire. Their signature sound of atmospheric, hypnotic, gloopy rhythms becoming synonymous with the stoner house movement.
Alongside projects such as The Fug, Stoogie has been pushing forward with his own solo production schedule. With several releases in the pipeline, Stoogie’s solo creations are an altogether a more rowdy affair. Rhythm-driven music made specifically for the dance floor. Loaded with attitude and drawing influence from genres such as techno, bass and grime, Stoogie’s productions are sure to make you move.
