Back in his schooldays, this week’s guest worked at the Viennese record shop, Black Market. There, he got confronted with all sorts of musical genres and started to craft his own productions. What followed was a fabulous musical journey…
As Benedikt puts it, “Sweet harmonies don’t exclude noisy drones. Musical styles don’t really matter to me - what matters is when feelings of excitement, comfort and happiness arise, which are strong enough to shift your mood to another horizon. My focus is the soul of music. Music makes us feel and human beings tend to be guided (and sometimes also manipulated) by bits and pieces of musical expression which are constantly invading their brains and hearts. I love to use all sorts of instruments to generate soundscapes, re-construct field recordings, and fool around with analogue synthesizers and drum machines, in search of sonic wonderland. Grounded and spiralled out of control, the journey continues”.
Together with Clemens Hausch and Gerald Krist, Benedikt founded the MOOZAK platform for experimental music in 2007. MOOZAK is now operated by Clemens Hausch and continues its efforts of tearing down walls of musical perception by hosting regular events and pursuing a carefully selected release policy.
