Our 90th mix comes from the amazing, Jakooky, and represents a musical shift for her - as she puts it, “my mixes are usually energetic, an expression of my bouncey, sometimes intense personality. This mix, however, is me slowing down after a long period of debauchery”. Bordering on the melancholic, but with promise, it expresses detachment and the desire for warmth and healing! Utilising moody chords and more soulful sounds, whilst keeping in tact her quirky shuffley signature kookiness, it’s a special addition our series!

Jade grew up on festivals and Welsh forest raves…music is her obsession. Her tastes are broad and largely experimental - through punk, grunge, hip hop, trip hop, new wave, minimal wave, post punk, shoegaze, post rock, alt rock, kraut rock, drone, doom, ambient, dream pop and most noises in-between. With a love of the filtered and sonic rather than acoustic, her affinity for the electronic has never faultered. Playing relentless acid techno first when she was just 16, she later became obsessed with the record label Perlon, always being inspired and piqued by experimental sounds. Over the years she has mellowed when it comes to electronic music, now preferring the deeper and sublime. Having been a part of the Freerotation crew (and resident DJ) since its conception, she has been surrounded by her musical heroes. Playing to peers for many years, they always spurred her on and inspired her to feel comfortable finding and pursuing her own sound. If something makes her dance, she’ll play it. She would never be classed as a DJ’s DJ, rather a dancer’s DJ! When it comes to house and techno, when performing out, her aim is always to make people move with high energy and shuffley grooves! As she puts it “I love being asked to do podcasts as it’s my time away from the dancefloor, to explore my love of the deep, an expression of the introverted side of me, whereas if you catch me playing out, you’ll definitely feel the full force of my extroverted kookiness!”
